Surface Preparation is the essential first step for treatment of a substrate before the application of any coating, and is generally accepted as being the most important factor affecting the total success of a corrosion protection system.  Contaminants such as rust, oil, grease, dirt, and many others must be removed to assure sound bonding to the surface during the application of protective coatings.

Union Maintenance uses a variety of methods to accomplish this essential first step including but not limited to:

  • Abrasive Blasting
  • Ultra-High Pressure Water Jetting (40,000 PSI)
  • Mechanical Abrasion

UMC follows best practices and environmental guidelines for environmentally friendly blasting, as all runoff and spent abrasive is properly disposed of through green methods that do not harm our environment.
